Lawyers in the department are familiar with the legal legislation regulating the establishment of bodies specialized in the process of concluding petroleum contracts with foreign companies, including, but not limited to, the legislation regulating the Egyptian General Petroleum Corporation and the Qatar General Petroleum Corporation, in addition to the legislation regulating the General Corporation for Petroleum and Minerals in the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia.
The division’s attorneys also assist clients in conducting due diligence regarding acquisitions, divestitures and financing transactions related to oil and gas assets.
Because oil and gas operations often involve environmental and land use considerations, the department advises clients on compliance with environmental laws, permits, and regulations related to air and water quality, waste management, and pollution remediation, and also assists with land use issues, such as zoning, permits, and rights of way.
Taking into Consideration the Regulatory Conditions
In the event of disputes, litigation or arbitration, the Oil and Gas Department provides representation and advocacy to clients.
